Default Mopping Up The Dregs: Another SX Group Buy

Expecting late-comers i took an extra regulator for myself during the last GB but that went before they'd even landed in the UK. Since then two people have approached me each requesting regs. I've bounced the idea off them and purchasing under group buy terms suits them both. So i'm posting now to see if anyone wants to make the numbers up beyond 5 before i give this group buy malarky rest for a while.

As before they're available in red, blue, black or purple and price will be £94.00 payable via PayPal.

I can offer corrosion resistant mild-steel fittings if you're upgrading from an FSE reg and you already have the gauge and fuel rail adaptor. All-inclusive cost is £110 payble via PayPal.

Alternatively comprehensive fitting kits are available from Mark at Lateral Performance which include anodised aluminium fittings, gauge and fuel rail adaptor.

Guys, going to have to do a bit of back-peddling here i'm afraid. It has transpired that the last group buy went a little too well and my supplier has now ran out of stock of the 6AN regulators. He can supply us with the 15402 regulator which has -10AN supplies, -6AN return and a 1/8NPT gauge port already tapped into it although i feel these would make life difficult as far as fittings etc go.

I have contacted another supplier regarding the Aeromotive 13109 regulator which is identical to the SX 15404 bar the fact it has a maximum base pressure rating of 70psi (compared to the SX's 90psi). This is still more than enough for most Imprezas out there, i'm sure the number of people running over 4.8bar base fuel pressure could be counted on a couple of hands. The big advantage of this reg is it has a gauge port ready-tapped into its body.

Terribly sorry about all this, it's a big mistake on my part. Or to quote Eugene, a 'schoolboy error' assuming supplier held stock.

Judging by your choice of headwear I'd definitely say "schoolboy error"

Carl,

For reference, 70psi (4.8bar) refers to max total pressure, meaning base pressure at atmospheric + boost pressure.

Would that mean if you were at 3.2bar base pressure that you would max out at 1.6bar of boost?

Based on the "spec's" yes, but in reality, unlikely on this type of reg', although I've not tested the Aeromotive.

I have tested the SX up to 6.75bar/98psi, and it retains it's integrity.

I think you'll find certain tuners/mappers, are going to start recommending running higher fuel pressures, so it would be worth making sure the reg's are good for at least 5.5bar/80psi.

Hi Mark, you've confused me as the Aeromotive website states base pressure? I contacted Aeromotive some time ago specifically referencing turbocharged applications and they replied with the same although for love nor money i cannot find the email. This makes sense (at least to me) as, in general, the amount of time the regulator spends exposed to base pressure + boost pressure will be minimal (1%?) in the grand scheme of things? However, i would agree that there is added peace of mind in not exceeding max operating base pressure at full boost.

Aeromotives are 2-4 weeks away right now but will come in around £5 cheaper than the SX's. Will try a couple more suppliers for SX's today.

Russ, hope you're not referring to my mullet.

Ok, if there's enough interest this is back on but the price is slightly increaed at £102, £118 with fittings. Still an absolute bargain IMO. If we have five by Wednesday it goes ahead. Like i said in the first post, i shan't be doing this again for a while so get in quick.

List carried over from before. I sorted Stuart out with one of my spares as he paid in a flash. If we haven't got 5 by Wednesday i'll take one for myself but i've really spent too much on the house today.

Hi Carl,

I'll have a black one please. I've got a boxed FSE one, but all the horror stories are putting me off using it.

I presume I'd need the mild-steel fittings too? Also, is there an adaptor to fit the gauge, or do I need to get one made up?

OK - numpty time: The FSE reg came with a glycerin-filled gauge, and a right-angled pipe adaptor that bolts on to the end of the existing fuel rail - I guess they're the bits you're referring to?

Final numptiness - I don't have a PayPal account, can I send you a cheque? Obviously I don't mind waiting until it clears before you post stuff out.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, you'll have to get yourself set up with a PayPal account. I don't have time to wait for a cheque to arrive/clear.

You'll need the mild steel fittings and you can use the FSE gauge and rail adaptor. You'll just have to have the blank supplied with the fittings tapped to take the gauge.

GROUP BUY OFF

It turns out the supplier who had arranged to help us out was actually using the same person as i was. Hence no more regualtors available with 6AN supplies and returns (SX 15404). The SX 15402 remains available although it has 10AN supplies but has a tapped gauge port. I am happy to cater for supply of these under group buy terms but will not be transferring interest over automatically from this GB.

If you seriously want an SX 15404 regulator i'd suggest getting in contact with Mark Aigin or Alyn Stockton as i suspect these are about to become much harder to get hold of in the UK. Sorry to disappoint gentlemen, i did my best.
