03 STi Oil Leak
Have a small puddle under my 03 STi today, cannot take off the undertray to take a better look but have read a few posts suggesting valve cover gasket or oil return feed from AVCS?
If it is valve cover how much am I looking at getting it fixed?

Worried about driving it 60 miles to the nearest Scooby Specialist at http://www.surreysubaruspecialists.com
As long as I keep an eye on the exhaust should it be OK to drive?

Right well the Sump is rotted....
Questions, how much is a new sump? I would prefer to fit a new one than a 2nd hand. I assume I need a new sump gasket.
Do you have to take the subframe off for the sump? Also the garage said its a 1.8hr job, yet my friend said thats bollocks, 40 mins max.
What oil is best for the STI? think new oil and filter is a must.
thanks!

Pretty scary! I wonder how far away you were from a total sump failure and instant loss of oil pressure. I wouldn't fancy driving that till' it's sorted.
I've been looking into removing/refitting sump to install a baffle plate. The job would be dead easy if not for a 3-4 bolts which are hard to reach. It's physically possible to do it by undoing the engine mounts and jacking the engine an inch or so - but still very awkward by all accounts.
It should be 40mins, but I bet it can easily be a couple of frustrating hours. I believe you use a gasket sealer product rather than a gasket itself.

Would this kit be what I am after?

Oil was from Opie, magnetic plug and filter from ScoobyWorld i believe.
Magnetic plug will catch any metal bits floating around in your oil, so when you do a change you've got evidence of potential excessive wear, and also it keeps it out of circulation in your engine

1 x breather return seal ( sit's on the breather return stub on the inside of sump and seals against the sump mating face)
If using a Grp N cork gasket, it can be a pain in the ar*e to keep it lined up when doing the job 'in situ'.
