As the title above, has anyone on here used an air oil separator such as the one grimmspeed sell that screws into the oil filler cap?
Are they any good?

This one looks identical to the grimmspeed one but a fraction of the price, just unsure if it screws into the Subaru fill neck.

So where does the oil go ... oily air in and clean air out ... the oil has got to go somewhere, am i missing something fundamental? Got to empty it out yourself?

 

The oil is separated centrifugally and falls down the oil fill pipe. No emptying or checking.

 

i really like this type of aos, except that they are pretty high in price.
normal cans can be found a dime a dozen and some of then can be modded to return to sump, which has the same effect.

 

Check there suitable for your spec
Standard or lightly modded no probs
But I don't think they should be used on high horsepower cars

 

Used one on my car for around 12 months. Worked very well.

They're a very tidy / easy install. Am I right in thinking they only take feeds from the heads and not the crank breather?

 

I have one. They take feeds from heads and pcv. Works a treat

What make is that?

 

S2 industries AOS, which is a carbon copy of the Grimmspeed one as they done the dirt & copied it like for like

i find it beneficial if you have a 2.5 as they suck oil like nobodies business - and being a daily driver i couldn't handle its oil consumption - id say this reduced it by about a 3rd

All the AOS's run the head & PCV breathers, some are 2 port & others 3 port. 2port just have both T'd into one pipe - that Tomioka fitted above you can see the T-Piece about halfway along the pipe to the header breathers

 

When topping the oil up does the S2 industries require disassembly? Looks like the tomioka one just has a normal cap screwed on.

 

doesn't require dissassembly as such, it just requires a 19mm socket (subaru wheel brace in boot) to undo its cap. its that piece that screws tight into the oil filler pipe

 

Is there a difference in oil filler cap, because if I search both the Grimmspeed as the S2 industries it only says WRX 02-07.

Does this mean it isn't available for a Classic because it has a nother model of filler cap?

 

It could be the ID of the hosing, I think classics have a smaller diameter hose, so you'd need a reducer in your hosing somewhere.

Not sure on the filler cap.

 

the difference is in the breather setups on classic & newage rather than the cap i think

and yanks didnt get Classic turbo's either!
