Default Possible Diff problem?

Hi, I'm wondering what the signs are if the diff is on its way out. The reason I ask is when I get above 35mph I start to hear a noise. I can best describe it as a whirring noise. I don't think it's a whine but I'm not 100% sure. It sounds like its coming from the front, more to the passenger side. The are no strange feeling to the cars ride/drive. I recently had issues with the front brake on the passenger side after fitting new discs and pads. The caliper stuck and had to be replaced and at the same time, I rotated the wheels round. When the caliper stuck on, the car shook so violently that the pins that hold the pads in slipped nearly all the way out. It's been since then that this noise has become noticeable.

So my questions are
1. If it is the diff, what do I need to look out for?
2. Could it be something simple like wheel bearing, wheels need balancing, warped disc etc?
3. Any one have any other ideas?

I want to get to the bottom of this as on the 25th, my de-cat up, down and Centre pipes are being fitted and then on the 27th, Duncan is coming over to remap it.

I hope someone can shine some light on the situation. The car is a 2005 wrx blobeye with 88000 miles on it. Like I said, I only noticed this noise after I had the brake issues

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing worth checking out

How can I check this myself? Would I need a garage to check this for me?

You can check it yourself but if you trust a garage get them to do it
