Default Which coolant?

I'm wondering which coolant i should you when I do a full flush over the weekend? Ther seems to be loads of different ones/colours etc? It's a v5 type r, so the ej20 engine. And does it have anti freeze in already? And also how many litres? And is water needed to be added? Or just all coolant? Thanks ash.

Comma G30 xstream, you can dilute it with 50% water. System should take 5l in total

i used shell coolant in mine. (bright green) seems to be what subaru recommend. i used about 4 litres of coolant in mine and just toped rest up with water. this was a full flush i done on mine about 7 litres in total.

just make sure you fill nice and slow. and make sure there is no airlocks.

Subaru needs an amine, phosphate, nitrate free coolant.
The G30 is an OAT based coolant and should not be mixed with non-OAT coolants.
I'd rathe ruse Comma Super Coldmaster and change it every 2 years.

Cheers for the replies. It will be the shell Coolant if I can't get the comma g30 green from anywhere. Do halfords do the comma green g30?

Why not just go to a decent motor factors, ask for an antifreeze that is suitable for alloy engines and has an anti-corrosion additive, then pay far less than for Shell or from Halfords?

The last time I did mine it was £14 for 2.5 litres, enough to dilute to 5 litres.

The ONLY hard and fast rule is NOT to mix OAT and standard stuff. If you aren't sure what is in now, flush thoroughly with water.

And for the sake of your engine, do a search on here for how to refill without airlocking.

Having seen the amount of rebuild threads on here showing rusty and scaled cooling gallery's I didn't think anyone used coolant any more
A good rule of thumb is not to mix different brands of anti freeze, bugger if I can make head or tail of the labels. I mix it with deionised or distilled water in an attempt to reduce lime scale.
