Which year model is it?

around 1 bar sounds pretty much like standard for an sti...i wouldnt be turning it up with out the proper supporting mods, remap and fuelling sorted etc otherwise it would most likely end in tears

Your wagon is a WRX and in either case will be running .8 bar to a bar tops allowing for some winter cold air

Pull back the carpet it's hidden under the passenger footwell

You want to see the mother board as well as the case as they are interchangeable.

Post some pics up and we'll be able to tell what the factory boost settings are for that ECU and if there's any after market chips on the board

hmmmm... that looks like eclipse performance labels there which may mean its only had one of their generic chips added. you would need to get the cover off for a look but im betting its a chip as the screws have been rounded off as the covers been off before. these chips are pretty basic and raise the fuel cut to 1.1 bar. they are supposed to be based on the prodrive ppp map and are suited to a td05, panel filter and a decat exhaust. these are very old school if it is indeed the eclipse chip thats fitted and modern mapping and aftermarket ecu,s have, excuse the pun, " eclipsed" these type of chips.
