I have a tapping noise coming from the right hand side of the engine at the back as you look at it from infront of the car. It only seems to do it between 1k and 2k and does it when stationary and when moving but only seems to do it in 1st and 2nd gear . Any help with this please . Car drives fine and idles fine.

Hi it could just be the tappets.have you changed the oil at all I found when I used millers 10/40 is tapped quite a bit till I put millers 10/60 in it made the engine run a lot quieter that's what I was advised to put in.

I had a tapping noise for the last 6/7 weeks and was doing my head in.it was coming from the engine as had me worried but when I got the oil changed the lad found the tapping turned out to be a clutch problem he thinks bearing.when you put your foot on the clutch just a touch it goes away and upon realeas it's back.it does it on standing still and when your driving aswell you can hear it when going down side streets etc.but when you touch the clutch pedal it goes away.

Just thought I would mention it no harm in trying it to see if it is the clutch bearing its more than likely tappets are cars a prone for it so I was told.

Has helped alot mate , cheers . i did notice it after i changed the oil . im currently using mobil 1 10w40. think i may look into some new tappets and an oil change possibly.
