Had this problem for a month, the answer is.......
your front pads may be low, this was the problem on mine.
First thing to do is check your pads, then look at your brake fluid reservoir it will be filled to about half way!! this is your problem... i have found that my float in the brake fluid res does not float very well fill the fluid up to the top/full mark and 'hey presto' no more light!!
Cheers

The front brake pads being low causes a low level of brake fluid in the reservoir..... the handbrake light also operates as a low fluid level warning light, even though the handbrake is cable/shoes..
