1994 uk impreza wagon 'wr'
Hello
I've just returned to subaru ownership after 9 years , i have bought myself an 1994 m reg uk wagon which is a project for me as it needs engine repairs,
My question is that it appears to be factory standard ,ie no bolt on go faster goodies, but seems to have stiffer suspension than standard it has a gold 'WR' sticker under each front side indicator on the front wings and came with a momo steering wheel with a gold 'WR' badge engraved into it , is this an early special edition? i have been told it could be an early prodrive version?
any help appreciated
Cheers
Matt

i did think that but the badges just look like they've been there from new and etched into the steering wheel which was in the boot , the chap i bought it from had put a standard uk model wheel on it, he said i changed the steering wheel because i didnt like the original 'wr' one, he was also told it had cosworth pistons and prodrive suspension ? but i dont know .
do you know a list of where i can decifer my model codes?

I've just noticed that your model code is similar to mine as it contains a K. I couldnt find any info about my car at all other than it may be Australian! Mine is a 1997 UK Turbo 2000 but the model code doesnt check out on any of the dechipering tools.
I found this in another post relating to yours:
My applied model code is:
GF8BK8D
Which transletes to:
G - impreza
F - wagon
8 - 2.0l turbo
B - my94
K - Should say 2,4 or 5 relating to the doors, what does k mean?
8 - wrx
D - 5 spd manual.
So according to that, i own a wrx.
Thing is, the v5 has IMPREZA TURBO 2000 4WD as the model.
Is there no way of geting a definitive answer?
Cheers.

Also came across this:
GC8EK8D = Turbo 4 door
GC8EKFJ = Sport 4 door
GF8EKFJ = Sport 5 door
GC8EK8D = Catalunya
GC8FK8D = Turbo 4 door
GF8FK8D = Turbo 5 door
GC8GK8D = RB5
GC8HK8D = Turbo 4 door
GC8HKED = P1
GDABK8D = WRX
GDBBKKH = WRX STi Prodrive
GDBCKEH = WRX STi
The 4th character refers to the age so if you stuck a B in to these ones that start GF8 the it would appear that you have a Turbo 2000. Same as mine and nothing special at all! If the K was changed for a 5 (as it normally would be for JDM cars, indicating number of doors) then at best you have a WRX Wagon.
Oh and my option code is EE as well.

yes i looked at that and came up with the same conclusion, from what previous owner was saying the 'wr' might be an early type of 'ppp' package , but who knows.
I just want to find as much info and get car back to as original condition as possible,
for £450 i couldnt go wrong :-) .
P.S
thankyou for your help

Who knows indeed, there were so many specials made! Mine shares the same model code with the Catalunya of which there were only 200 built.
You could compare the engine type and colour codes to narrow it down more. Colours were pretty limited depending on the year/model from what I can tell.

It might have been something to do with the world rally going on at the time, McRae was doing some cool stuff back then. The only special I can find that was released for that was the 1995 McRae Series.
