WRX ported heads vs AVCS conversion
Hi all!
I'm trying to build a wrx that spools as early as possible. I have a TD04 hybrid, ported headers, harvey up pipe, etc.
My long term goal was to eventually convert to AVCS heads, i understand it will make the turbo spool by about 200rpm sooner. But, i'm wondering, will porting and polishing my WRX heads be a better/cheaper route to getting the turbo to spool as early as possible?

As above save money and go with AVCS,porting and polishing will cost as good used pair of the AVCS(with some luck you can find JDM Big Port heads)
Depends on ECU what you are running,but on WRX ECU you can't run AVCS,you will need JDM WRX V7-V8 ECU which can control AVCS or aftermarket ECU

Have complete V3 heads to put onto the 2.5forged shortblock.. spoke to alan at Engine Tuner today. He said v3 heads need machining to fit 2.5? Else compression is to high?
