snorkus removal - CAI v stock box
I want to shorten the intake and remove the snorkus.
Was planning on going for a cone in the wing but then realised is there much point when the stock box takes air from there anyway?
Can I just remove the snorkus? Will this be ok

I've messed about with intakes on previous cars but everything I've read about subaru's says to leave it alone.. The standard air box does the job fine and changin it does more bad than good for the most part I think.
I fitted a md321h turbo and still have the standard air box. If you have a wrx I'm not sure if you could get the sti air box parts and fit them for some gains ?
Chris

I think they recommend that you should have it mapped to account for even a air filter , as changin that will stop the car running correctly.
So if not you'll get noise and a car that doesn't run properly .. Sounds extreme but that's seems to be the case from what I've read. Wheras on other cars the ecu will adapt to minor changes ...

Yeah seemed odd to me that it couldn't cope with minor changes , but have a read around ..
Your car though do what you want .. If it doesn't run noticeably poorer then result :-)

Yeah give it a go ...
Can't see a problem with drawing from the wing , but if it was me I'd run some longer ducting and try get it positioned behind the fogs or somewhere in the bumper so you're still getting plenty of airflow.. On my edition 30 I ran some ducting down to a open fog and it worked great , loads of cold air .. I was always conscious of water and **** getting dragged in though when the weathers poor.
Someone on here must have done what you're thinking and will hopefully help

yeah iv thought about ducting and it would probably be easier to leave the standard intake funnel on to blow air into the wing. i think the wing gets lots off cold air anyway
