Default Low operating temperature

Hey guys.

I recently fitted a digital water temperature gauge, as I believe the standard one, just as the oil pressure on the dash tell me lies until it's too late.

Anyway, since installing a month ago temps have been fine, usually in the 80s, peaking at 92 in traffic but no drama.

All of a sudden for the last few days I'm lucky to see 80 while cruising. It struggles to go beyond 70C.

Can you guys offer any help?

Apart from gauges, and decat downpipe there are no real mods. I don't drive the car hard. There are no strange smells or anything. Fuel consumption is good.

Any advice much appreciated.

J

The only thing that I can imagine would cause this problem is a faulty thermostat. It's job is to open when coolant reaches operating temp (in order to allow the coolant to circulate through the radiator) and regulate it at a hopefully optimal temp.
It's located near the water-pump and should be easy to replace.
Other possibility is faulty gauge?
BTW, I have no expertise on these matters - so best wait for a second opinion.

Beg,steal or borrow an infrared temperature gun and 'red dot' your cooling system - that will tell you if you have any issues.
