I have noticed an oil leak from the back of my turbo 2000's engine recently. On closer inspection it is of course the oil separator plate. I've already got the latest (steel) version of the plate sitting here ready to go on. My question is, is it easier to take the engine out or take the gearbox out?

You certain it's not the cam cover and dripping down/blowing back? VERY common.

Thanks, I'll double check that soon. I got under the car and was able to see oil behind the flywheel and around the separator plate as well. Maybe it's both! I've read the plate is a common leak too.

In your opinion, engine out or gearbox out if I have to replace the plate?
