Default Crankshaft sensor

Can anyone help, my 2004 sti type uk would not start after trawling through the Internet it was evident that the crankshaft sensor was at fault so I replaced it with one from my McRae series impreza. When fitted the sti fired in to life. That was a week ago on Saturday I drove it to my mother in laws then yesterday when I tried to start it again it was just turning over what would the chances of another sensor failing. The sensor from the McRae series would be about 4 years old and maybe covered 25000 or so miles.
Any help would be fantastic.
