Its on the top of the engine, passenger side at the back close to the bulkhead. Hard to spot as its a bit hidden by the inlet mani and intercooler. At 25 quid for a pattern part its worth changing, it cleared my 22 error code with a new one. Just make sure not to overtighten the new one on fitting the bolt just needs nipping up.

I wouldn't personally drive it with faulty knock sensor.

keep in mind the sensor must be set up at the correct angle, and torqued to 16 ft-lb

Does that code mean that a) the knock-sensor is on it's way out, or b) the knock sensor has found some knock?

If it's b), do you use 98 or above octane fuel?
Have you done any mods and not had them mapped?
Are you running an induction kit?
Do you have a powerful engine but are still using a TMIC?

Hmmm, maybe it is picking up knock rather than being faulty. Mine failed completely, did not flash at all. It kept the CEL on all the time. Might be worth taking it out and cleaning the contact points between the sensor and the block and also looking for cracks on the sensor. Mine had cracked and must have let moisture in. New sensor sorted me out in the end.

Just to confirm the 22 is because the sensor is faulty not because its detecting knock. You can drive it with a duff sensor but keep it off boost itll also be in limp mode so if you attempt to floor it itll splutter n hesitate anyhow.

What year is your car? Ive a v3-4 knock sensor that i got when mine went but i needed a v5 sensor as it was a 1999 car.

Its handy enough got at when intercooler is removed, and small coolant pipe bracket unbolted

I found specific listings for my year of car which was 1996-1998 so there must be some sort of difference. Keep looking! I'll have a look too.
