Hi All,

I'm going to do an oil change on the car at the weekend (2003 WRX PPP Wagon) and I thought I might as well fit my new pump at the same time.

I've got a lot of mods to go onto the car, new turbo, up pipe, injectors etc etc, but I'm fitting those at a later date and then having the car mapped the following day.

Will fitting the fuel pump cause any issues before its mapped? I would think that the FPR would keep everything in check? Just wanted to fit that with the oil change as its quick and easy.

Doesn't the PPP have a Walbro 255? I thought it was part of the package.

 

Think its only the STi PPP that had it. Find out at the weekend anyway lol. If its got one already then I'll have one for sale!

 

I'll be interested to know, as my wife's car is a WRX PPP wagon.

Oddly I don't think they're standard on the Forester STi, so if you do need to flog it, I might be interested in it for mine!

 

Ok, well i just want to know its ok to fit without a Map, my Mechanical mind tells me it'll be fine.

I think you will cause overfuelling in the open loop areas of the map,the ecu doesn't adjust fuelling here but reads from the map. so you will ovefuel due to greater fuel flow cuased by your new higher flowing fuel pump.

 

But the fuel pressure should be set by the FPR? No?

 

Any excess fuel pumped to the injectors goes back to the tank, the higher flowing pump just makes sure you have more than enough fuel for a standard set up and enough for some improvements.

I must've misunderstood the explanation given to me.

 

Seems no one is sure then... Probably leave it until I fit the rest of the Parts then.

I would have thought it would be fine though, if the stock FPR is set to 3.5 bar or so and as petrol isn't compressible it should still be 3.5 bar with the new pump.

I know who he is yes (and it may possibly be in his interest to say that you need a remap to fit one... ) but thread is pretty old.

Like I said I can just leave it until I fit the rest of the parts. Just thought I could pop it in at the weekend when I do the oil if it wasn't going to cause any issues. Still might drop it in, and if it runs too rich swap the old one back in.

 

its a few years old but not as old as the car your fitting it to and im sure he hasn't changed his mind in the meantime.

I've heard differing views, each from respected folk.

Given you're already above standard power with the PPP I would be surprised if it would run hugely rich.

Hopefully you won't have to swap it back. Fingers' crossed.

 

the ppp already has an uprated pump so no need to change unless you planning on a massive bhp hike


ppp consists of uprated fuel pump,sports cat, prodrive exhaust and ecu upgrade for more bhp

 

Its a WRX PPP, not an STi PPP.

Nope, Mine has the rear cat removed, Prodrive intercooler piping and the Prodrive exhaust, and the PPP map. Mine is also on Prodrive suspension but that's separate to the engine kit.

 

how do you know the pumps not uprated, when I changed mine which had the ppp kit on it it had no writing on it.

 

I know that on the WRX PPP the pump wasn't uprated. So it should still be on the stock pump . Unless someone has been there before me.

 

WRX PPP's didnt get an uprated pump, only the STI PPP includes an uprated pump.

Ive got the literature for all the PPP packs for all models on my PC, havent got anywhere to upload them to and unfortunately the Prodrive website no longer has them on there I dont think.
