New VIN plate required, who to contact?
Bit of (ok, massive) long shot, I've bought a '99 STi Type RA shell that hasn't got a VIN plate on it (previous owner has lost it). It's got the chassis number stamped into the bulkhead as it should do, so I've got something to go off. The 2 nearest dealers are worse than useless when it comes to anything other than a service so I'm reluctant to try them. Are there any helpful tame dealers that would take on the challenge?

Great to drive but pesky bureaucracy problems drive you mad!
Good luck with your motor. I too rang my local Subaru dealer recently and was put off by the person who answered the phone; unable to give me any pricing information, or anything other than basic platitudes - real shame.
I also have a problem with my chassis number. The one on the log book is different to all the service records that I have been given by the previous owner. Car was previously driven on personalised number plates by previous owner but wouldn't have thought that would make a difference to the chassis number...or am I being dense?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated

The chassis number is stamped into the bulkhead so stays the same throughout the car's life (bar something like being stolen/recovered etc which usually ends up with a 'Q' plate). Does the chassis number match up with the VIN plate and logbook?
