Default Blobeye Sti Identify an Engine Part HELP

Hi Guys,
Cant post pix but I need help identifying a part on my car.

Took under tray off car to change oil filter and right next to the filter there is a part that looks like a heat shield, silver runs left to right and has Subaru in the middle of it.

Its really corroded at one end and has holes. What is this and is it important I replace it.

Hope that's enough info for you. Please help. Oh and is it expensive

Cheers Guys

Dex

Sounds a bit like the exhaust heat protection to me. as long as its still attached and not rattling then id imagine it'll be fine

Ianbott,
You da man I thought it was like the manifold heat protection. Yeah just a few little holes and rust no rattling or anything.

Thanks for the heads up, Evo 6 was the same, Manifold heat protector always looked a bag of **** but nothing to worry about.

Thanks mate

If its much corroded, you could potentially take it off and use heatwrap instead.
