Default Inter cooler dilemma

Hello everyone I've got a 1999 impreza wrx I am wanting to upgrade my intercooler I have seen on the web a top mount from a p1 or a front mount intercooler but I'm not sure which would give me the best increases and general driving quality any ideas ? Thank Ryan

If your not upping the power with other mods then don't bother changing

As above, total waste of money unless you are modding.

THEN you need to know the mods before deciding on a new intercooler. It's not just a look good item, it does a job, and you would probably find that a map tweak would be advisable too.

The thing about an intercooler is that it can alter fuelling, so a map tweak AFTER fitting one is advisable.

Possibly, but what sort of power are you running at do you want?

FMIC not really needed unless you do track days, are going over 350 bhp, or both.

Newage WRX Intercooler = £30-£50 in excellent condition.
Turbo - wet finger in the air! You get what you pay for.

Do u have one for sale at that price or is that what you would advise is the ball park figure for one ?

thats an STI intercooler, overkill for your power really so would be a waste of money and much harder to fit

yes but thats for just the standard y-pipe, which you should really replace as well as its restrictive and prone to cracking

I fitted a Newage Sti top mount to my last Scoob, a MY 00 UK Classic. Knowing what I know now, I,d have fitted a front mount, not much more money and not much harder to fit and also future mod proof. I now have a Japspeed front mount fitted to my MY 05 JDM Sti. This was fitted by S.W. performance of Ellesmere port. He has been mapping and looking after my car for the last 5 years with no probs. Steve.
