GUYS PLEASE HELP ME,
I was driving along and impreza cut out and now wont start, ive checked cam and crank sensor, theres fuel but no spark, there is no cel even when i turn on to position 2, is this a ecu problem, it will crank but not start, what can it be i have a thatcham cat 2 aswell but im sure cel should show when ign on and trying to crank? Please help me ive tried connecting the 2 black plugs but again no cel, its a 1993 impreza wrx with w6 ecu

Hi mate yeah it primes and theres a smell of fuel in engine bay as its flooding chambers, im baffled why am i not getting check engine light at all even when ign on , the lights on the dash dim as i try to crank
I've had problems with an intermiitent no start on my 95 WRX wagon. Cranks fine but no start. Fuel pump runs its 2 second prime. I checked my grounds in engine bay and they seem ok (no voltage drop to battery negative). Cam and crank sensors seem ok as have an oscilloscope and waveforms present. I have just spent last hour digging out the main relay. It is on a bracket with 2 other relays (brown and in the middle). The other 2 relays are cylindrical. This bracket is a real pain to get to as is above fuse box under right side of dash. When I pulled this out the car will crank but not start (i.e. this relay does not control starter motor). The wiring diagram I have does not indicate what this relay controls - feed wires coming from battery and ground wires going to ECU, nil else. Having tested this relay off the car it will intermittently not energise (i.e. no click) so I am going down the route that this is my problem.
If this relay has failed on your car it may explain the symptoms you have. I assume it controls the ignition system and maybe also the injectors.
A very simple thing to test once you have got it out! Just supply a power and ground to the control side pins (they face a different way to the four load carrying pins). It will only work with power and ground on the correct pins (magnetic field will either attract or repel contacts depending on which way current flows).
Hope this will be of some help.
