What is the full spec of a closed deck engine?
As above really.
Also what cars were they fitted in. I have recently bought one for my WRX as far as im aware they were forged with oil squirters fitted?

it wasn't an STi spec, but was simply used on all turbo models from the first inception of the Legacy turbo back in 89.............it was used up until v2 cars '95 (but not all) as it was gradually phased out
it did have oil squirters as std but was not forged, used same crank and rods as any other turbo with a slightly better spec piston

The cdb's where cast different, the heat treatment is far better than the latest new blocks semi c,d.
Using a new semi in rallycross and the main journal fails, blocks after CDB are no where as rigid and strong, only block for high stress and power is the closed deck block.
Uprate the internals into a cdb and job done.
