Basically the car on start up runs really lumpy, espcially when its cold, the engine revs by itself sometimes aswell. anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

Most likely maf sensor, try cleaning with carb cleaner. Failing that try the coilpacks

Maf can be tested by disconnecting when engine is running, if it stalls straight away then it maybe ok, if t continues to run for a short while then the maf is likely shot as the ecu is trying to conspensate for the dodgy readings

It's a w reg which is a 99-2000 I think? Gonna try unplugging the maf sensor tomorrow and see if that's the problem. Thanks for the help, will let you know how I get on

Also would the maf sensor cause the car not to boost properly? As when on boost it feels like its being held back slightly. Just fitted a vf24 and it hasn't been mapped yet, obviously i know it's dangerous to run it without a map but the car was taken for a quick drive to make sure everything was ok. Feels like its stuttering in a way like its trying to go but is being held back

Would need mapping for it.

The z32 is a smaller diameter and therefore wont fit without replacing pipe work to reduce the diameter of the inlet hosing to meet with the z32 maf housing and the electrical plug is entirely different. The maf voltages v air volume are entirely different so would need a remap.
The q45 maf is the same diameter so physically fits but still needs rewiring and remapping.
The newage maf can be used but again needs a remap and wiring altered.

Agree its likely to be the maf but you cannot clean a 99 maf without damaging it further.
Just replace. It only has one coilpack unit being a 99 and would give different symphtoms if it were the coilpack imho

Checked for engine codes? Replace the MAF regardless but it could also be caused by the lambda sensor

Overson, I have a Q45 MAF available!... Somewhere lol

But I never used the Q45 anyway when I was EcuTek - as the square box thing on top of the tube is higher than the OEM one, and it fouled my FMIC pipework.

(I now have Simtek and am MAFless.)
