Default headers

I'm looking at buying some headers and up pipe for my wrx.
What are good quality ones to get or are they all much the same?
Any that I should avoid?

Stay away from cheap eBay stuff

Get slip jointed gt spec /rcm ones and you won't go far wrong

Will defo not get them off eBay :-) I have looked at RCM any Scooby clinic ones as well as afterburner one on Scooby world. Wasn't sure if any of those were to be avoided. Cheers mate. Better put me hand in my pocket then.

You only really need to upgrade your headers after the 400 range, a decent set of ported o.e headers along with a decat uppipe (assuming its still in place on the wrx) with something like a Harvey smith item would see you greater benefits than tubular headers at a lower state of tune and you will have change left over to put towards the remap

OK, something to think about, thanks. Don't want to run more than 370ish, I've got a 2.1 forged engine but the gearbox will explode if I try anymore I guess lol. And not got the cash yet for an sti box.

Then 2.1 forged motor if eventually going to be hounded I would probably opt for the RCM style headers again coupled to Harvey uppipe, saves buying twice and at around the 370 marker will be give or take on the spool front I would imagine, what turbo you going to be running?

Hi there

Really you shouldn't buy headers from eBay,those headers I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Try contact here breakers and ask them if they don't have for sale, but if you are want new one have look for WMS 3-Bolt headers, few people running them without the issue

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WMS-RS3-Im...item4167c111e3

Second headers what I would have look are Kakumei 3-bolt headers(many people running them in high bhp without the issue)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GC8-GDA-GD...item33530ec506

But as above ported headers with good Up pipe(Alyn@AS Performance making/selling the Harvey Up pipe) will be best if you are not looking for more than 370bhp,but if you are looking for more power at future I would take 3bolt headers

+1 for the above std ported header are the way to go and you will have no lag.I had some Harvey smith ported header & uppipe and after the remap it transformed the way the card drove. One of the best performance mods you can add to any impreza imho.
I also have a set up for sale in vgc, which are not only heat wrapped but coated in high temp ceramic paint(£15) for protection

An SC36 or 38 when I get the funds.

Yes straight fit bud, and with an sc36/38 these would perform real well aiding even faster spool times making for a really active fast accelerating road car, if its mostly road use then your not going to be disappointed with that setup IMO, less lag and more GO
