Have you checked the fluid levels on the gearbox?

Did topping up the fluid sort out the problem?

Good possibility that the Parking Pawl return spring has broken/come adrift inside the gearbox.
The extension housing on the back of the transmission has to come off to gain access to the Pawl locking lever and spring.

Hello, So the gearbox doesn't have to come out then to replace the spring? That would be good. Would this cause it being awkward to engage Park. Thank you for you help.
