Difficult to accurately answer, but 300 is fine, alot of People are running 350, but I woudn't. It also depends on how you drive it, std rods don't like high revs and this tends to be when they let go, so you may run 280bhp but if you screw the pants off it theres every chance you will throw a rod.
Hope that helps...........:-)

found this statement when searching
"Classic rods will be stud & nut type cap retention, later newage are bolt cap retention, these are a better rod to use if you have the choice"

have bought a rebuilt newage wrx odb with forged pistons, just wondering if its worth tearing it apart to fit uprated rods, cant see me ever wanting more than 400/400 so if newage wrx rods will take that then i wont bother pulling it apart

I was told 380hp, problem is I don't know how well that's been tested.
I understood the standard pistons are on the edge at 360hp so whoever built the engine must have felt the rods were fine with the forged pistons.

mapped them reluctantly to 400 on a couple of customers cars.

One imparticular is original wrx blob engine and 398bhp iirc.. coming back in a couple of weeks or so for a new ecu install.. likely to get pushed again as requested by owner

As I first said its never going to be an exact science, there are so many things to consider. How hard its driven/screaming the nuts of it being the main thing to throw a rod.
What you need is a nice new set of H beams ;-)

Hi,
I'm near Holywell, where are you from? Rods are £250 with no fees or postage costs, your welcome to call around if you want.
