Default High speed stability

Hello guys,

Is there anything i can do to make the car feel more stable? As its going to be used on track as much as i can afford it will be regualy exceeding speeds of 100mph i imagine, but ive noticed when doing this sort of speed (on provate land ofcourse) the car starts to float about and just not feel planted atall.... Ive checked tyre pressures and there all ok, but just wondering if theres anything else i can do to give it a bit more downforce?

Have you done anything to the wheel alignment mate? Made a massive difference on mine. Just felt more planted.
Also my classic feels much better with the coilovers, but I'm guessing if its a track car it's already on uprated suspension..
Could be worth having a chat with any of the guys that run big power time attack cars etc.
I'm no expert on that kind of thing so someone will probably be along to correct me if I've said anything silly!

Is it possible to widen the rear track easily? I know that was one of the upgrades from the 2004 STI to the 2005 STI, Subaru's specific aim was high speed stability.

I regularly do speeds in excess of 120mph on track and more and dont suffer at all , running 2deg neg camber on all 4 wheels cdf solid drop link, white line arbs , coilovers etc etc
Depending on which tracks you use not all tracks are flat out for long there will be a wiggle/chicane ,bend hairpin or whatever to keep speeds under , how is the car reacting at 100mph?

Classics suffer badly for high speed so you would have to take a serious look at the suspension and anti roll bars as well as an anti lift kit.
A front splitter may help as some of the air going under the car may also be adding to your issue.

Think the alk helps but can't see the need for a splitter !

all of the above will help ie solid drop links, decent suspension and splitters. not just froby but rear also ht autos do one it fits all along the back of the car and allows the air to cleanly leave the car quite surprising the difference I had from fitting as like to give mind a good blast and over 100mph the rear especially made a surprising amount of stability compared to without.

Front splitter helps against the front end lifting, rear diffuser will be efficient above 80-100mph

If you want go down the route aero, flat floor will help alot,is the lots of tweaking, tinkering about that myself as next step

Suspension setup(camber etc.),droplinks,ARB's,ALK will help too counter this

I though that was the question how can I make the car more stable above 100mph so yes front splitter will stop lift at the front and the rear spoiler will make it feel more tied down and stop lift at the rear.

Found the below on ht autos : Product Name : Rear lip/Diffuser Subaru Impreza
Product ID : 22brearlip
Product Price : £ 99.00
Quantity : lips

Rear splitter actually made from the lower half of 22B bumper with built in diffuser for 96-00

However sure they also do one similar to the bug eye one give them a call.

About the rear diffuser, best is to do DIY and try if its works or not, many people making own one which working well or get diffuser which has been done and tested in aero tunnel like Voltex,Varis,APR and other makers

Here is the picture of the flat floor, how can looks on the car

They're usually DIY flat floors, people trying first plywood and from that(if its OK) going with honeycomb aluminium/carbon/kevlar

This material you can source easily

http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/prod...honeycomb.aspx

I would go as first flat floor from plywood for testing/tweaking(plywood should be cheaper),later on if its final and done properly get honeycomb aluminium, which is rigid and is not so heavy and is easy to manipulate with this
