Cool Help needed with new turbo please.

I have read threads on this subject for the last 2 hours and i am still struggling to work this one out. Any help would be great.....

I have a standard impreza Uk 2000 and my turbo seals appear to have gone. I am getting a large amount of smoke out of the exhaust on start up and the actual turbo under the bonnet was smoking for a few mins. This started happening today. After a 10 min warm up it all cleared and it seemed to drive the same. It doesnt seem to be burning any oil as far as i can tell on the dipstick.

my questions are:
1. Am i right to assume the turbo needs replacing.
2. What vf or td turbo would be the best replacement without having the ball ache of changing any other components.

Thank you in advance

It will need to be a front entry 16g to fit on directly.

appoligies one more thing... is the actual type of turbo stamped on it?

for example should i be able to see the markings "TD04" on my turbo while still fitted to my car?
