Default Panel filter

Are these any good

http://www.scoobyparts.com/acatalog/...ILTER_999.html

Or are the green performance filters better?

Loads of people swear by them & they always get good reports.
They are lightly oiled what puts some folk off, due to problems with the MAF, which can be caused if over oiled!

as above dont oil too much and they are fine. some years of cars have fragile maf,s cant rem exactly which ones (98,99?) if your concerned then use green, cosworth etc as they are dry filters.

What you have to oil them? I'm a complete noob with stuff like this lol, have a 2.5 wrx if that's any help! Do the older models have issues with these then?

Yes, the oil is very thin & supplied by K&N..I think it's only the older models as pointed out above that suffer with the fragile MAF!

If you get one, make sure you tell the garage when you take it in for a service, otherwise they could change it not knowing it's able to be cleaned & re-used.

FYI, I use Cosworth filters!!

Has anyone used the HKS panel? I have seen this and the oil filters on ebay and if they are genuine they seem well priced when compared to oem items.

How good are foam filters at filtering the fine particles?

Well 90% of the rally cars we deal with run foam covers of webber carbs and they spend most of the time in a forest , also my neighbour who runs a motocross bike in competition says he wouldn't have anything else , again in truly bad conditions ... also the dyno test showed that the foam filter was more efficient than the k.n and the cosworth filter in second .

Pipercross quote
"As airborn dirt particles are trapped by a paper or cotton-gauze air filter, there is a dramatic increase in pressure drop which essentially robs the engine of airflow and power. Due to the deep foam construction of each Pipercross air filter, airflow is able to negotiate trapped dirt"

Im not a big fan of induction kits, very few seem to do the job of feeding on cold air and Id rather spend the money on the exhaust.

Has anyone done the Snorkus delete or similar airbox mods?
