Default EGT Sensor resistor cel fix

HI all

2001 wrx uk300

Ive got a decatted uppipe with the Egt sensor still connected. keeps giving me a cel on the motorway (steady 5th gear)

I got TD05 turbo and looking at ditching it over the weekend and using a bung.

tonight i thought i just unplug it and use the 2.2ohm resistor idea. Soon as i put the resistor in the car side plug and start it up the cel light comes on. i reset it and the light comes on again

this is what i done?

Hi Mate, not sure if this is of any help, but had a de-catted up-pipe fitted to my bug, then had the cell fix added as well. All works as it should, no light on etc. not sure where you are in Essex, but if your stuck give Paul at Extreme Scoobies a call, he fixed mine and is located just out of Boreham.

Does it matter what way the resistor is plugged in to the car?

You should be using a 2.2K ohm resistor.............

Like Don says.
I did this mod myself several years back on my old 2001 WRX bug.

Standard ECUTek on early models cannot map out the EGT CEL on a WRX, hence you need to use the resistor fix (open source you could probably do it using ROM Raider or ECU Explorer with a decent cable), but it's a two minute thing to do.

Personally, I'd remove the sensor entirely from the up pipe (it's not serving a purpose anyway if you have no CAT there) and replace it with a bolt, then use the resistor fix.

You don't mention if you left the sensor in there or not. I'd remove it.

Put the resistor in there last night and cel gone off now. At the moment the sensor left there and debating weather to take it out. Looks fiddle to remove and then finding a decent bung to fill the hole with.

Any ideas?

Cheers all

Got myself a bolt today m12 by 1.25mm pitch by 25mm long. Good fitting copper washer and some decent thread lock. Gonna try and remove it tomorrow and fit the bolt in place. Gonna try and tackle the sensor from the top all being well
