VB is an Import box, short ratio. VN is a UK box longer gearing.

Basically if you spend a lot of time on the motorway then I'd go for a UK box, but for acceleration I'd go Japanese.

Either way you'll need the diff for what ever box you want, what ever type of box you currently have.

TY754VBAAA 3.166 1.882 1.296 0.972 0.738 4.444
TY754VN1AA 3.454 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.738 3.9

Chuck the ratios in here.

Both have LSD rear diffs, and centre diffs, they both have open front diffs.

Gain in acceleration, mid range the same but have a bit more in gear pull top end.

Import box if it was me,will make a nicer fast road car and are generally stronger and have less miles on them.

In my opinion for what its worth,

The ty754vbaaa box is fitted standard on a p1/ sti5 and 6 versions,
The ty754vn1aa is standard in equivalent v5/6 uk/euro spec.

I,d fit the import box and matching 4.444 diff if i had the choice as long as its in good condition .
5th gear is still 0.738:1 so cruising wont be an issue,

The 5th gear in my old Ra g-box i had in my previous wagon was 0.972:1 ,
i was around 3800rpm at 80 mph from memory, would have probably topped out at 120 mph roughy on track max.......
