Default Fuel Pump Wire Overheat ?

Hi All,
Wasnt able to start the car and noticed that fuel pump ( 2 months old) whinning sound was very faint. Checked the wire connector under the rear passenger seat, which previously suffered a partial melt down (rectified), all good. Disconnect the electrical connector at fuel pump assy on top of the fuel tank and found connector plastic around an electrical pin melted on the male connector. Cleaned up and reconnected the connector, pump runs and engine started. With engine running, the wire with the pin where surrounding plastic melt down is hot.

It seems that I have to connect both the pump +ve and -ve wires directly and by pass the fuel tank electrical connector. Anyone have this problem before or any advice ?
Many thanks.

GC8, MY98 with 2 months old 255 pump.

Chan

What gauge wire did you use when you re-wired it?

I havent re-wired the latest defect yet as it involved opening up the pump assy housing. On the previous connector melt down under passenger seat, I am not sure the wire gauge but it is slightly bigger in size than the original wire.
