Default Electric Window Failure

Hi all,

Just a quick cry for help. The drivers side window of my blob STI stopped working a short time ago. It didn’t just stop working, it would worked intermittently, sometimes taking 5 or 6 clicks of the switch to work. Then not wanting to be left with a window that was stuck open I stopped using it. Then one day when I tried to use it at a multstorey ticket machine it had given up the ghost all together.

As it was working sometimes and not other I thought it may have been a lose connection so I’ve whipped the door card off and had a look and all seems to be ok with no signs of lose connections.

I’ve also had a look for a fuse that might have gone but there doesn’t seem to be one, either that or I’m reading the manuals and fuse box wrong.

Any ideas on how I can work out whether it’s the motor or the switch unit itself that’s gone?

The only sure way would be to substitute a known, working, switch.

They do come up on ebay.

agreed, emmaroids switch has failed on her bug wrx, i swapped it with the switch on my car and it worked fine.

phone a breakers or use ebay should get one for £20ish

it was the switch in the drivers door that had failed but still wouldnt open with the switch on the broken door, replaced the drivers door switch and then both switches worked so they must be linked.
