Default head gasket set help

i need to to change the head on my drivers side,looking at the head gasket sets which head gasket do i really need composite or the multi layer steel?is it best to change both sides or leave the passenger side and not disturb it as the engine will be out?
i have a my 98 uk running 260 and im not planning to run any more power through this engine,cheers

howdy bruce best get both sides done m8 to be honest, normally head will require a skim as well, i would get head gaskets from subaru direct m8 sti ones are plenty man enough for what you need. others would say get the bottom end rebuilt while its out that depends on mileage and your budget !!

im going to look at having another engine built next year when i moved house hopefully,i have a noisy valve on the drivers side at the min which i cant live with the tapping anymore,apart from that the engine runs spot on so its just a case of fixing that to keep her running till i hopefully get a garage to put it away in,dont want to disturb what might not need doing,looking at the sets from import car parts,extra 70quid for subaru steel gaskets over composite,didnt know if its worth the extra
