Question acceleration problem! =(

hi ive had my 2003 wrx impreza for just over a year now and ive had this problem for a few months just my local garage doesnt really know where to start with out changing things in and out etc but this would be very costly =[

The problem

when accerating the car sometimes cuts off as if its missing or losing boost somewere and you can feel it straight away losing power and stops pulling like it should, its weird because the problem doesnt always persist, one day i could drive it and it would not do it for days and then sometimes it can happen with in a couple on minutes of starting it, car feels fine when boosting up but it seems to happen around full boost at 4k rpm (ish) ,i thought this may be a faulty DV as looked to be getting stuck open so cleaned and now it springs back without a problem but still this problem lays, i dont have much mechanical knowledge so dont really know how else to explain this

mods are same as when bought the car

full decat, and front mount intercooler and baileys DV and remapped

if it was any of these modifications? it would have been like it from the start as i have not touched anything since i bought it besides coilovers and brakes

any help would be greatfully appreciated

cheers and thanks

A distinct possibility that the Neutral Position switch on the gearbox could be playing up

my local garage said MAF sensor but is there any way to test this? as he wanted to change it but is not sure if that was the problem, and also any way to also check coil pack? just the way it comes and goes makes it abit harder to pin point

You can try cleaning the maf carefully with a cotton bud, just unscrew it from near the airbox and clean the small sensor. Unsure how to check coil packs.

i also have a slight knock from which sounds like drivers side engine mount but only hear it when turning the car off,, this would not have anything to do with this though would it?

I had the same problem and it was the Maf! Buy a second hand one from a breaker on here for 20 or 30 quid and plug it in, if it solves the problem, you can buy a new one if you want after that! I did try and clean mine but it didn't work!
