Question UK2000 engine vs Sti engine

A mate of mine has asked what the difference is between an MY99 UK2000 engine and an MY00 Sti engine

I know the 2000 had around 220bhp standard and the sti was 276bhp but what are the internal differences and is it worth him changing for the sti lump?

I think the sti revs higher, not sure if this is to do with the cams or the ecu?

He's not running massive power and never will, hes around the 300 mark I think but the engine is cheap and has 50k less miles on it than his uk2000.

Cams are different. I think stronger rods or pistons. Is it just block or the whole thing with heads

as far as I know its complete. He had to find a later sti engine to get the inlet manifold to match up or something? I think the main thing he's wondering is if it will run on the current ecu, but realises it will have to be mapped.
