was just driving in 4th and slowly put my foot down and heard a noise sounding similar to a dumpvalve come from the turbo and now the turbo sounds like a diesel, the car stil drives normal etc but it sounds terrible, has the turbo gone ? hole in it or the downpipe ?

its a md321t turbo with full rcm system

thanks in advance

there's no smoke coming from the exhaust, the turbo still spools up, slight loss of power but just sounds like a tractor, coming from the turbo area.

any ideas ? turbo ? gasket ? part of exhaust ?

just a guess, but mine sounded like that and it was the turbo, the bearing had gone to much play and the blades were hitting the housing.

Mine was caused by the oil starvation, had to replace the oil lines and banjo bolts as well as turbo.

Out of curiosity, did you find out what caused the oil starvation?

Yeah the oil feed was slightly block and the banjo bolt in the head was crack in two, that was a nightmare to get out. Also when replacing everything i drill the both banjo bolts 0.5 bigger and replaced the line with a braided one. All good now

Mines just started doing it (TD04), had it looked at and it's the blades hitting the housing.
