Default Turbo 2000 ecu

Ok so I've just bought a turbo 2000 version 4 on a s plate, the guy I got it from said it had a simtec ecu and did not have the old one. I took my version 4 sti import ecu round plugged it in but it wouldn't start. Amy idea why?

Can I buy a ecu off eBay and have it unlocked or is this not possible?
I did use the search button but nothing fitted my question .

Thanks guys . John.

My sit import doesn't have one and being a version 4 uk it would be in the ecu. I just googled something about swapping a few wires around. The engine has 440cc injectors de cat system and a ihi vf22 so should be ok on a wrx ecu

the wiring between the sti and uk cars differs when it comes to impreza's after 96, which is why you cant bang an sti version 4 ecu in an equivalent MY uk car as it will not run, you will need the correct year ecu for a uk car.
