Classic door speaker troubles
Already posted in ICE, but I thought I'd get more views here.
I bought a set of front door speakers from a trader on here but they don't fit properly, despite being the correct size and being reassured by the seller that they just fitted straight in. Am I missing some spacers/adapters or are they simply the wrong ones?
Speakers are Alpine SXE-1725S, 220w 2-ways - 16.5cm/6.5".

Yeah mate, as above, you need adapters.
I used Corsa B ones - like in the link below

I fitted some rear uprated 'Fli' speakers and dispite being the right size ,the magnet was to big to sit flush in the door recess . I simply got a strong pair of pliers and bent the metal inwards slightly (3mm)and they fitted perfectly ,even used the oe holes.
About 18mm. Or use mdf.
Don't forget to give the plywood/mdf two coats of primer to seal it against damp, Wickes etc sell a decent quick-drying one for wood. Dries in uder an hour.
Mine runs on 18mm mdf spacers, home made, been on eight years, no probs so far except oner wire fell off a speaker
