Default Lambda Sensor

I got a 1993 wrx which i'm doing some mods on it at the moment.I got some exhaust headers which were ported by Harvey Smith.I got it off a member on here 3 years ago and never got around fitting them.So now that i got some time to fit them i found out that on my 1993 wrx the lambda sensor goes on the headers and on the later models they go on the down pipe. When i went to fit the lambda sensor on the headers i found out that the plug has been welded on.The scooby is getting a remap any way when all the mods are fitted. So can i just fit the the lambda sensor on the down pipe?

If you fit the lambda in the downpipe you will not be able to connect it to anything,as on the later classics there is a 3 pin plug to connect the lambda to.If the oe lambda has been welded into your std headers you may well have to fit that one side on the car as it wont run right if you fit the ported headers with no lambda plug. Failing that you could always get Harvey to give you a price on porting the one side so you can gain the maximum exhaust flow.

Yes you can put it in the down pipe, it makes no difference.

Rewire it to the downpipe, a car running more power has the potential of breaking a manifold fitted lambda and if it shatters it will destroy your turbo. Very rare but have seen and heard of it happening
