Default Direct Turbo replacements...

I have looked and I am sure that I will be pointed in the right direction..

I have a 1996 imported wrx, when purchased all it had was a Jasma exhaust and centre pipe. This car is as I would describe an 'ebay' car.. ie. all parts are sourced as cheaply as poss. To date it has cost us about £800 each and for that we purchased the car and have added a link ecu, front mount intercooler, suspension upgrade, 4 pots and a couple of other parts. The majority of these parts we have been fitting ourselves ( limited knowledge )

I would like to spend good money and add a lovely big turbo at huge cost but this is not in the budget, what I am after is something that will fit on with out extending pipes, diff down pipes... changing this and that. just grab the spanners and hey presto.. is this possible and if so what should I be looking at... not after huge power.. would be nice to be able to see 350ish...

Cheers

Jim

1996 wrx should have td05 16g turbo, which i think is capable of 350bhp with the right supporting mods, which sounds like you have most already, you just might need some bigger injectors

If you want something a little les laggy than TD05's, id say a vf30 would do the job on a budget.

ah great news.. I was not sure what turbo the wrx had. Some people mentioned it might have an 04/05 but to have it confirmed that it should be an 05 is great news, no need to change then for now.. and that is great news that less than £1k each will have a 300 hp track weapon So long as I can get injectors and mapping cheaply !

Just a note...

If you use any turbo other than an early top entry TD05H 16g (or a T.E. TD04L!), then it will be front entry (F.E.).

So you will need to 'recreate' the top entry snorkel of the MY93-96 cars... See this thread:-

Adapter to use Front Entry on a v2?
