Hi i need to replace the engine in my 2001 wrx but im unsure of what engine to buy. Ive been told different years will fit by some people and not by others. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

ideally you want a 2000-2005 to mate perfectly, newage blobeye or bugeye wrx engine these can be had as a short block or long block depending how much of your failed engine is re usable but any 2ltr bottom end from 1992 to 2005 is capable of being fitted.

If you are unsure as to what to buy then get yours rebuilt......at least then you know exactly what you are splashing your cash on.

Buying second hand is a bit of a minefield IMHO unless the provenance can be guaranteed.
