Why is there a probe on my down pipe??
Hi guys
While under my car today I noticed there was a probe fastened to the down pipe (well waste pipe) as it has a separate 1 going into the down pipe, it is fastened with a metal jubile clamp, I followed the wires back to a black plug under the boost solenoid.
What is this should it be in the exhaust or is it some kind of temperature probe??
Thanks

Its your EGT Exhaust gas temperature probe. It is supposed to screw in a threaded boss hole. They are prone to break etc on removal, so maybe that is why someone has jubilee clipped one to your up pipe.
Their job is to sense an onfire or breaking up cat in the up pipe. It is not a performance part, leave it connected or if you remove it from the multiplug you will get a light on the dashboard.
