Default help needed after rebuild

hi people need help with my 2000 wrx turbo.i fitted a new engine a week or so ago.anyway i went to join the battery on and it blew the main 80amp fuse in the fuse box in the engine,so went out and bought another 1 checked wires ect and all seemed fine.so fitted the new 80amp fuse and as soon as i touch the live on the battery terminal it blew straight away.so im stuck with what it could be.it was fine before i do the engine change but now it just blows that main fuse any ideas of what it could be kind regards ben

Short to ground somewhere I would say!

check the connections on the starter motor maybe the live and earth are the wrong way round if you have had it of that is

i dont think i removed the starter motor as i just unbolted it from the box and moved it aside but ill remove it tomorrow and check it just to be safe

What about the live to the alternator have you rejoined this or left it shorting out somewhere, it could only be starter or alternator and for 80amps it's got to be a dead short

turned out to be the main going to the alternator was shorting out so refitted it and problem sorted many thanks for the help people
