loss of power under acceleration
I've just started getting momentary loss of power under acceleration. Everything is ok until 0.5 bar then a slight dip. Accelerating further again I get to just under max (0.9 bar) and a a drop in power again, this time the power drops and doesn't come back up. You can feel the hesitation when you put your foot down.
It's only just started to happen so I wanted to see if there is anything obvious i can check myself before getting it booked in.
Car is 53 blob WRX
all standard mapping / engine etc
the only mods are a ninja 2 backbox and deresonated centre pipe
Is there anything basic I can check or do to help locate the problem?
Why do these things always happen on a bank holiday?
Cheers
Mark

Try low speed and revs accelerate in 5th or 6th as hard as you can if you notice the power drop while the engine is under strain it could possibly be a coil pack. Similar symtoms to mine and i had two broken coil packs. although mine is a classic so may be different..
No harm in trying it though

Bigfarlz,
It had the lambda cleaned after a recent engine light problem which was fuelling related so maybe the lambda has gone?
Gaz,
I'll give your suggestion a try when I get back this weekend too
Cheers

Bigfarlz,
Ok, I'll see what they say at Pole Position when I can get it booked in. They've looked at it before when I had the engine management and fuelling issues.
I'm in the Kingswinford end of Wordsley. Scooby's usually tucked up the side of the house though as I normally get to drive my lovely 1.4 D fiesta work car. Lucky me

update on the problem - hesitation under acceleration
just used the car again after being away and thought i'd give it a test. The symptoms I am getting are momentary hesitation when the engine is revving (no problems when pottering around at 2-3000 rpm). Get the revs up and to full boost and I am noticing a loss of power almost like a very slight spluttering. My knowledge of modern and subaru engines is limited (more used to old ford engines with limited electonics) but could this be indicative of a coil pack problem as suggested by Gaz although my problem is at revs in all gears not when in high gear. I'm wondering whether it's worth replacing them before getting it booked in the garage
