Chassis rust - WRX 2005
Open question - My friend has a 2005 WRX blob eye with rusted chassis, lots of holes. I have a 2002 WRX with some rust nothing major.
Is this a common Subaru issue, do chassis not last more than 6 years?
I have had 3 skylines all imports and none of them are as bad as my 2002 and the youngest was a 1996 model.
Any advice or thoughts welcome.
I will be warming up the wax oil this summer I think

yes it seems to be common now on the newage impreza's we have replaced and sold a few rear subframes lately quite common for the front U frame to rot as well, this is very common on the uk classics and foresters, but with it being a 05 thats not good really

Thanks for the info. My mate is going mental with the dealer as the car has been main dealer serviced from new, but I understand rust checks are a pay for option and the under tray covers the rotting chassis.

Finally got under my 2002 wagon with the old wax oil and was pleasantly surprised how good the old car looked. After an hour of painting thrust is held off for another year.
My mate with the 2005 has a new subframe fitted and will be glad that saga is over.
