hello, ive got a single turbo legacy and want to upgrade the intercooler, which is the best to use,is there one off a newer model that would be a straight swap. has any body done this before? any help would be great. thanks gaz.

 

No idea, but that is a sweet looking car.

 

the newage sti IC is considered the best made by subaru. the wrx is smaller in size, the v5 is smaller still.

 

 

so are any of these a stright swap or is it a case of make it work?

 

I think the legacy's IC on yours is totally different to Impreza. Isn't it water cooled?
have a look at a later model legacy I'm pretty sure they are same as STI if so should be easy to swap.

I'm sure there's someone on here with more knowledge. Try giving David a ring at API he knows most things subaru or look on uklegacy.com.

 

I had a legacy with the same water cooled inter cooler,I chucked the inter cooler the pipe work the inter cooler pump(front of inner wing passenger side)and added a top mount from a impreza. The intercooler pipes where the same but the bonnet scoop had to be played with as only had vent for directing air towards the turbo.
Car was a 1993 legacy quad cam turbo .
