Cheers mate my bro said same would that cause presure and are they ment to be hard some 1 else said head gasket. But I thort if they was too much pressure the rad cap was ment to release it into the over flow
Your bottom hose should go fairly hard when warm, your rad cap will release if there's to much pressure, but it hard to gauge just how much pressure is there without a special gauge which attaches to you expansion bottle.

if its staying half way bud and te fans kick in the thermostate is ok.... if u have the gauge rocketin high and fan isnt kickin in then u have a problem.... head gasket your oil and water will be contaminated... and water most likely comin out the exhasut. top pipe should be hard and bottom should be colder than top... have u run the car wich lid off releasing all air out the sytem. are u using a standerd raditor or a alloy??
I have the same problem with a V3 STI... My car's at the garage at the moment trying to resolve the issue. I have an alloy radiator, no water in oil / vise versa, thermo about 2 years old so going to check that as mentioned. Will share results as soon as I know whats going on...
Got a bit of air out this morning and with in 15 mins of starting it I took it for a little drive top hose hard and hot and bottom hose warm and hard temp half way does that sound right lads
You might just have an air lock in the radiator but if there car dosnt over heat an fan kicks in I don't see no problem best bet let it tick over with cap off so there's no air if there is a lock that will push it out then u will have a big bubble come out an the water will drop. Mine takes a while to heat up on tick over. By the symptoms u have said dosnt sound major
Sounds like an airlock to me too, possibly by refilling the coolant too fast etc.
From cold take the rad cap off and give the hoses a good squeeze as its warming up, let the car get up to temp and as said above the air should be expelled.
If the fan kicks in about 1/2 and both hoses are hot along with the heater being hot should be fine.
As you have only recently changed the coolant keep your eye on the levels and top up as necessary.
