Default Help with my rpm please

Hi peeps I have another prob with my impreza gx 2001 non turbo
The probs been happening for a while now and cart find the problem witch is doing my head in.
When I come to a stop the revs hold at about 1200 rpm for about 10 seconds or so then drop down witch makes it sound like I cart drive lol
Or if the cars idling away sat at a stand still and I rev it up it does the same sticks at 1200 then drops down to 500
I gave the car a service today n still no diffrence
Any ideas welcome please
cheers mick
