Default It's began

So I have pretty much a completely standard 2.0 AWD Impreza Sport (1996), and I wan't to start modifying. The problem is, this is my first impreza, and now I have it running back to it's origional form, I wan't to begin.
Could anyone please advise what steps to take first? Only modification is a JP straight through exhaust system. Everything else is standard.

Cheers,

Performance wise if im honest your not going to get very much improvements ..
Suspension and brakes always a good place to start in the long run ..

As has been said above. Your not going to get much more power out of it but by upgrading
Brakes and changing suspension setup you can make it handle a hell of a lot better.
