how do i fix the air lock?

Leave engine to idle with cap off header, until the cooling fans cut in assuming they are working. Any locks will normally find there way out,If this don't solve it You may have a sticky thermostat

If you can't do it as above, the ONLY way is to drain the coolant and refill S L O W L Y, through the pipes attached to the metal header tank, avoiding it gurgling. My Impreza took nearly half an hour to fill
